Responsibilities
- Own and oversee the financial reporting for assigned business units, including preparation, review, and analysis of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts.
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries with comprehensive supporting schedules and documentation.
- Lead and oversee monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Play a key leadership role in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of close activities.
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances across Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts, providing meaningful insights and explanations to accounting leadership.
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, and ad hoc reporting requested by the Director of Accounting and senior management.
- Evaluate and strengthen internal accounting controls by identifying risks, recommending improvements, and supporting the implementation of effective processes and procedures.
- Prepare, review, and submit applicable sales tax returns while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
- Maintain, review, and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and related accounting activity.
- Coordinate and provide support for year-end audits, including preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain and review assigned Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution of outstanding items.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly prepaid expense and amortization schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a resource to accounting team members and collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting and financial issues.
- Work extended hours when necessary to support month-end, year-end close, audits, and other critical financial reporting deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of general ledger and financial close activities.
- Public accounting experience and/or CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP/accounting systems preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong financial modeling, analytical, and data interpretation capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and communicate findings effectively to management.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, and accounting best practices.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of complex accounting matters.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact with employees at all organizational levels.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and business information.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to research issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and recommend effective solutions.
