SEM Process Technician / FIB-TEM Process TechnicianLocation: Albany, NY Duration: 12 Months (Long-term Temp, Possible TTH) Pay Rate: $30/hr W2 (HM open to higher for strong candidates) Shift: 12-Hour Compressed Schedule (Day or Night Shift; weekends required) Employment Type: Contract (W2)Job DescriptionWe are seeking experienced SEM Process Technicians and FIB/TEM Process Technicians to support semiconductor device analysis in a cleanroom environment. This role involves hands-on sample preparation, imaging, and documentation of nanostructures using advanced microscopy tools.Key Responsibilities – SEM Process TechnicianCollect, prepare, image, and document semiconductor nanostructuresManage sample queues and engineering analysis instructionsPerform sample preparation using hand cleave, micro-cleaver, and tweezersSample highlighting including dilute Hydrofluoric AcidImaging using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)Collect compositional data using EDXCommunicate results to Engineering teamsDevelop and optimize SEM analysis techniquesTrain users and maintain training/certification documentationParticipate in continuous improvement initiativesPossible FAB operations supportKey Responsibilities – FIB/TEM Process TechnicianCollect, prepare, image, and document semiconductor nanostructuresManage sample queues and engineering instructionsLamella preparation using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) toolsSample prep for FIB stubs using hand cleave and tweezersTransfer grids to holders using tweezersImaging using SEM, TEM, and STEMCollect compositional data using EDX and EELSCommunicate imaging and compositional resultsOptimize preparation and analysis techniquesTrain users and maintain certification documentationSupport continuous improvement of FIB operationsPossible FAB operations supportRequired QualificationsBS degree in Physical Science or equivalent hands-on experienceStrong hands-on experience with SEM and/or FIB/TEM/STEMExperience handling samplesComfortable working in cleanroom environmentsExperience takes priority over educationUnrestricted right to work in the USAPreferred QualificationsSemiconductor industry experience strongly preferredBiological or medical microscopy experience acceptableHitachi SEM experience preferredHitachi / ThermoFisher non-automated FIB experience preferredThermoFisher TEM experience preferredExperience with high-powered electron microscopesFailure Analysis or SEM/EDX technicians with CAD layout/metrology experiencePhysical RequirementsManual dexterity for handling small samples and toolsAbility to lift/carry up to 35 lbsPPE required (safety glasses, shoes, bump cap, cleanroom garments)Ability to work nights (6pm–6am), weekends, and extended 12-hour shiftsFrequent walking (10,000+ steps per shift), stair climbing, bending, and stoopingOccasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities, or customer locationsAdditional Notes (For Recruiters)Please specify in summary notes whether candidate is a fit for SEM or FIB/TEM roleScreening Question: How many hands-on hours has the candidate worked using SEM, FIB, or TEM tools?
