Self-Contained Paraprofessional
Implement modified classroom activities within the self-contained instructional program as directed by the teacher. Work 1-on-1 or in small groups with students to target specific IEP goals. Execute behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to support emotional regulation; utilize positive behavior redirection and safe de-escalation strategies for tantrums, sensory overload, or aggressive behaviors. Assist with fine/gross motor activities and occupational/physical therapy exercises incorporated into the school day. Support students using assistive technology or Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices, picture boards (PECS), or basic sign language to help them express their needs. Guide students through frequent classroom transitions, sensory breaks, and daily schedule (e.g., loading/unloading buses, navigating hallways safely). Assist the teacher in observing, tracking, and recording daily progress data regarding student IEP goals, behavioral incidents, and personal care routines. Help maintain a clean, safe, and heavily sanitized environment, ensuring toys, adaptive equipment, and changing areas are regularly disinfected.
Qualifications: Experience working with special education students, preferred Paraprofessional certificate Bilingual Spanish preferred
