Security Officer

Provides security services to ensure order and safety of patients, visitors and hospital personnel. Responsibilities include escorting visitors, employees, and students upon request, patrolling all areas of the hospital internally and externally on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle 24 hours a day in all weather conditions, providing key assists to all areas of the hospital, detecting suspicious activities within the campus and handling the situations appropriately, reporting criminal activity to supervisor and law enforcement, assisting medical staff with the enforcement of Baker Act and Marchman Act patients, working with law enforcement/correction officers dealing with patient/prisoner intake and status, responding to all inbound and outbound helicopter flights, using and understanding the operation of walk-through and hand held metal detectors, maintaining reasonably regular, punctual attendance, and maintaining compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications include a high school graduate or equivalent, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes, a valid Florida driver's license and insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier's requirements and standards, a State of Florida Class "D" Security Officer License, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification, and a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety.
