Security Officer (Over Night)
The Rose Gaming Resort is a $480 million gaming and entertainment complex destination, located alongside I-95 in Dumfries, Virginia. Along with exciting gaming action, The Rose Gaming Resort provides a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a space for meetings and events, 50,000+ square foot gaming space and over 1,650 Historical Horse Racing machines, and over 80 acres of green space. The Rose Gaming Resort generates an estimated $35.5 million in annual tax revenues and employs more than 500 team members.
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our casino property and its patrons. Your duties will include responding to security incidents and providing a visible security presence in the casino. You will also observe patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. You will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the casino in all interactions with guests. We are looking for someone who is attentive, reliable, and capable of making sound judgment in difficult situations.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Practicing, supporting, and maintaining the mission, vision, and values of The Rose Gaming Resort.
- Being responsible for the safety of all guests and employees of the casino/hotel.
- Recording investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Providing customer service to all guests when needed.
- Assisting with the transfer of money and chips from casino floor.
- Patrolling casino/hotel during shift to ensure safety.
- Maintaining casino rules, policies, and regulations being followed set by the casino and the VA Gaming Commission.
- Standing post for extended times as assigned by manager.
- Reporting to supervisor/manager on responsibilities on day-to-day activities.
- Controlling and diffusing potential problems and assisting employees and guests in emergencies.
- Controlling access to the video lottery facility and restricted areas.
- Responding to back-up calls immediately.
- Driving a company vehicle, must have good.
- Preparing reports of significant activities.
- Maintaining radio contact with base during assigned shift.
- Attending periodic meetings and training sessions.
- Checking identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
- Maintaining crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest profanity.
- Conducting cash escorts as required.
- Investigating incidents and composing written reports, as well as observing, handling, and reporting procedural violations and illegal activity.
- May act in place of Security Lead as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required skills and abilities include:
- Attending required training sessions offered by the Company.
- Obtaining and retaining required license(s).
- Performing the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Taking the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Having knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
- Having knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
- Reporting any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.
Education and experience include:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience within law enforcement, military, security, or customer service to equal one year, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, related field, or in-pursuit of one of these degrees.
- Successful completion of an in-house training program.
- Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English so others will understand.
- Ability to accept, prioritize and follow through on work direction.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations, utilizing rational thinking and decision making.
- Valid driver's license may be required with a good driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Flexibility to work including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The ability to lift, push and pull up to 50-100 pounds.
- Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Virginia Racing Commission License Valid Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
Physical requirements and working conditions include:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee may also be required to lift, push, and pull up to 100lbs.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- The employee is subjected to circulate throughout the assigned areas, including the smoking area, actively observing players and functioning of machines.
