Security Officer
The Security Officer supports the college in the protection of life and property on the campus and delivers necessary services to assist in the efficient conduct of administrative business. Under the general supervision of the Director – Campus Safety, the officer maintains safety and security by patrolling areas and enforcing college rules and regulations.
Essential responsibilities include patrolling campus buildings, stairwells, parking lots and roadways assisting in crime and fire prevention; performing security and public safety patrol duties; examining doors and windows to ensure security; performing periodic checks of emergency call boxes and or lights; remaining alert for emergency situations and providing first-line response; enforcing campus policies and procedures; safeguarding and controlling loss of campus property; directing traffic and parking control enforcement; identifying, reporting, and investigating violations of campus code of conduct, and local and state laws; providing service to visitors, faculty, staff, and students; transporting heavy bags of change to and from banks; responding to complaints of disturbances, fights, suspicious person complaints and emergencies; preparing routine, standardized reports and daily logs; furnishing escort services for visitors, employees, and students; informing and warning violators of campus policy and procedure infractions; interacting with police, fire, and other emergency service providers; and any and all other job duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two (2) years' experience in security/law enforcement, a valid driver's license, a valid New York State Security Guard License, and ability to be certified in basic First Aid and CPR.
Preferred qualifications include an associates degree.

Working conditions include the ability to work a flexible schedule, ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and stretch for duration of shift, ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time, ability to perform CPR, ability to effectively communicate in person, via telephone and via the radio, ability to respond to emergency situations with all due haste, and ability to move up to seventy-five (75) pounds and lift up to forty (40) pounds.
