nThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for participants, families, staff, and visitors participating in the DYCD-funded COMPASS Program. This position supports daily program operations by monitoring facility access, enforcing safety procedures, responding to incidents, and assisting with emergency preparedness efforts.
nThe Security Guard plays a critical role in protecting program participants, staff, and property while fostering a positive, respectful atmosphere that supports youth development and community engagement.
nEssential Duties & Responsibilities
nFacility Safety & Security
nMonitor facility entrances, exits, hallways, and common areas to ensure a safe and secure environment.
nVerify visitor access and maintain visitor sign-in and sign-out procedures.
nConduct routine patrols and security checks throughout the facility.
nMonitor program spaces during operating hours and special events.
nAssist in enforcing facility rules, policies, and safety procedures.
nIncident Prevention & Response
nRespond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns.
nDe-escalate conflicts and help maintain a calm, orderly environment.
nDocument incidents and prepare reports in accordance with organizational policies.
nNotify program leadership and emergency personnel when appropriate.
nAssist with emergency drills, evacuations, and preparedness activities.
nParticipant & Visitor Support
nGreet and assist participants, families, staff, and visitors professionally and respectfully.
nProvide directions and information as needed.
nPromote a positive, welcoming, and supportive environment.
nSupport staff in maintaining a safe atmosphere during activities and events.
nCompliance & Administrative Responsibilities
nMaintain accurate security logs, incident reports, and visitor records.
nEnsure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
nMaintain confidentiality regarding participant, family, and staff information.
nParticipate in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
nSupport monitoring visits, inspections, and compliance reviews as needed.
nProgram & Community Support
nAssist with special events, family engagement activities, and community programs.
nCollaborate with program staff to support daily operations.
nServe as a positive representative of Hands That Make A Difference.
nSupport efforts to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.
nMinimum Qualifications
nEducation
nHigh School Diploma or GED preferred.
nExperience
nPrevious experience in security, safety, law enforcement, customer service, or a related field preferred.
nExperience working with youth, families, or community-based organizations preferred.
nExperience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
