Security Engineer, AVP Level

A global financial services organization is seeking an AVP-level Security Engineer to join a lean Information Security engineering team in New York City. This individual will help engineer, automate, and strengthen technical security controls across a sophisticated enterprise environment.

The role will initially have a strong focus on security automation before expanding across cloud security, architecture, governance, and enterprise security tooling. The ideal candidate combines hands-on security engineering experience with strong Python scripting skills and an ability to solve security problems through automation.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain automation supporting security engineering processes.
• Develop Python scripts and integrations for security use cases.
• Support security architecture and implementation of technical controls.
• Help establish and maintain cloud security governance and controls.
• Integrate security capabilities with development and CI/CD workflows.
• Support enterprise security technologies across multiple control areas.
• Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of security engineering issues.
• Contribute to on-call coverage and broader security initiatives.

Role Requirements:

• 4-8 years of relevant security or cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Experience implementing or engineering security controls.
• Understanding of security architecture principles.
• Experience securing public cloud environments.
• Knowledge of modern enterprise security tooling.
• Familiarity with source control and CI/CD processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a small engineering team.
• Ability to work primarily onsite in New York City.

Nice to Have:

• Microsoft Azure security experience
• Tines or comparable security automation/SOAR experience
• PowerShell
• SIEM, CASB, firewall, proxy, and Zero Trust experience
• Financial services or regulated-industry experience
