POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Coordinator is responsible for managing and maintaining secure access to electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic resource planning (ERP) systems for all end users and integrated applications within SGMC Health system. This role ensures appropriate user provisioning, role-based access, and compliance with HIPAA and organizational security policies. In addition, the Security Coordinator supports Epic system initiatives, including data migration activities and system interfacing, by coordinating access, validating security requirements, and collaborating with application, integration, and clinical teams. The position is responsible for ensuring that Infor and Epic technical, service, and interface accounts are securely created, maintained, and monitored to support integrations between clinical, financial, and operational systems. The Security Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that migrated data and system interfaces are securely implemented, tested, and maintained, while acting as a liaison between IT, clinical operations, and compliance teams to protect patient data and enable safe, efficient workflows. In addition, the Security Coordinator is responsible for project management of Security–related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and workflow enhancements. The role also assists with broader system administration needs across the department, supporting application upgrades, workflow enhancements, and other operational technology requirements as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Epic (Security or Interface related) certification or proficiency within 3 months of being hired is required.
- Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) processes, including incident, change, and request management.
- Bachelor degree in a health care profession, management information system, or other related degree preferred.
- Must have at least four years computer experience with technical certification or equal experience.
- Must be able to collaborate with IT, clinical, operational, and compliance teams to coordinate secure workflows and ensure system readiness.
- Strong knowledge of EMR and ERP security models, particularly role‑based access control (RBAC), user provisioning, access reviews, and system permissions.
- Understanding of system integration concepts, such as interface engines, HL7, API security, and service account management.
- Must be self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to manage one’s own work independently in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and react to customers appropriately while exhibiting the highest level of customer service.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies, system changes, and evolving security requirements as the organization grows.
- Skilled in data validation and accuracy checking, especially during system migrations or user/security audits.
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Business setting, indoors with possibility of irregular hours and/or call back, moderate to heavy stress on a continued basis. Required to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate on-call and other responsibility including accessing system from out-of-campus to analyze/resolve system problem/halts. Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays on occasions during conversion of software/operating system, or installation of enhancements/hardware, or to meet deadlines. Require full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye and hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, and sitting for periods of time. Requires corrected vision to acceptable range. Requires lifting, approximately 50 pounds, transporting and installing computer equipment. Must have valid driver’s license.
