Our client is a leader in the utility and critical infrastructure sector in the Washington, DC area. They have a contract opportunity for a Security & Emergency Management Specialist to support security, emergency preparedness, and organizational resilience initiatives through the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of security and emergency management programs. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, first responders, and government agencies to protect employees, customers, facilities, critical infrastructure, and business operations. The specialist contributes to emergency response planning, physical security programs, incident management, regulatory compliance, business continuity efforts, and risk mitigation activities. The position is onsite in Springfield, VA. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders.
Responsibilities
- Support emergency preparedness, response planning, and incident management activities.
- Assist with emergency exercises, drills, after-action reviews, and corrective action tracking.
- Participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations and Incident Command System (ICS) activities.
- Support physical security programs, including access control, surveillance, and facility security assessments.
- Assist with security investigations, threat monitoring, and risk assessments.
- Maintain security and emergency management documentation, procedures, and regulatory compliance records.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, first responders, and government agencies to support security and resilience initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience in security, emergency management, public safety, business continuity, or a related field.
- Knowledge of emergency preparedness, incident response, and emergency management programs.
- Familiarity with ICs, EOC operations, and security best practices.
- Experience conducting security assessments, investigations, or risk analyses.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting critical infrastructure, utility, energy, or other regulated environments is a plus.
Compensation
- The compensation for this role as a consultant starts at $25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. This rate is subject to change.
