Department Overview
The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems.
- This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects.
Role
We are currently seeking a Section Leader - Sr. Manager, Mech. Eng. The role is an On‑Site position in Tewksbury, MA/Andover, MA.
What You Will Do
- Lead multi‑disciplinary engineering teams with responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
- Guide mechanical design efforts from concept and trade studies through detailed design, production transition, and supplier support.
- Develop and integrate mechanical hardware and electronics packaging (chassis, modules, circuit card assemblies, printed wiring boards, and interconnects).
- Apply materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T, and tolerance analysis to ensure quality and reliability.
- Support project execution, including proposal development (BOEs), EVMS/EAC tracking, and Risk & Opportunity management.
- Conduct root cause and corrective action analysis and present findings to leadership and stakeholders.
- Support the factory and suppliers with product integration domestically and internationally.
- Management reporting, development of clear concise technical and programmatic presentations enabling informed/strategic decisions.
- Lead cross‑functional design/development efforts within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management.
- Strategize for leading technical solutions that meet complex user requirements while balancing schedule and budget.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 7 years’ experience.
- Experience leading engineering teams with responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical execution.
- Experience with mechanical design expertise, including trade studies, detailed design, production transition, and supplier support.
- Experience with materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Strong collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with minimal conflict and within schedule constraints.
- Experience in design, fabrication, and integration of military mobile shelters, trailers, and equipment packaging.
- Self‑driven leadership style with adaptability across varying assignments.
- Working knowledge of military and commercial specifications.
- Experience in electronics packaging design and integration.
- Experience with Risk & Opportunity Management.
- Advanced problem‑solving skills, including reliability/failure analysis and development of technical white papers.
- Engineering project management experience, including EVMS/EAC oversight and proposal leadership.
- Experience with hardware design for Patriot, LTAMDS and NASAMS Air Defense Systems.

Salary Range
132,400 USD - 251,600 USD
