Section Head, Clinical Pediatric Genetics

Ochsner Children's Hospital is seeking a board-certified clinical pediatric geneticist to serve as Section Head of Clinical Genetics in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will provide expert inpatient and outpatient consultative care, guide a dedicated multidisciplinary team, and spearhead pediatric precision medicine initiatives. Candidates will also have robust opportunities to engage in teaching medical students and residents while driving clinical and translational research.

Practice Info

• Located in New Orleans, Louisiana at Ochsner Children's Hospital
• Practice alongside two junior pediatric geneticists, a remote experienced pediatric geneticist, three genetic counselors, and an experienced group of nurses
• Section offers prenatal genetic counseling and newborn screening
• Facilities include a 67-bed Level IV NICU, 14-bed PICU, 12-bed CVICU, 4-bed Level IV Pediatric EMU, and a 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unit with a dedicated Pediatric ED
• Teaching environment featuring ACGME-accredited residency programs and academic affiliations with Tulane University, the University of Queensland, and the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative care for children with known or suspected genetic conditions
• Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs
• Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students
• Grow, develop, and lead a vibrant section of Medical Genetics serving children and physicians from across the region
• Lead recruiting of additional Pediatric Genetic faculty to join the section
• Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to lead Pediatric Precision Medicine initiatives

Qualifications

• Board-certified clinical pediatric geneticist (Required)
• Individuals who reside in and will work from Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C. are not eligible for remote work positions
