Board Policy DC (LOCAL) the following position is open:Job Title: Secretary to Principal Work Days: 208Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: According to TISD Salary Schedule Dept./School: Terrell Assigned Campus Start Date: School YearContact Person: Jasmine Castaneda Human Resources SpecialistPrimary PurposeEnsure efficient operation of school administrative office and provide clerical services for school's administrative staff.QualificationsEducation/CertificationHigh School diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/SkillsProficient word processing and file maintenance skills Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing Knowledge of basic accounting principlesExperienceOne to three years of secretarial experience, preferable in a public education environment.Major Responsibilities and DutiesRecords, Reports, and Correspondence 1. Prepare written correspondence, forms, schedules, or reports using personal computer. 2. Prepare meeting agendas, and campus communication as requested, using typewriter or personal computer. 3. Maintain a daily teacher attendance log and records for substitute teachers.Reception and Phones 4. Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for principal. 5. Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed. 6. Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.File 7.

Maintain physical and computerized files including mailing lists, student records, visitor logs, and office communication. 8. Update handbooks, policy manuals, and other documents as assigned.Accounting and Inventory 9. Perform routine bookkeeping tasks including simple arithmetic operations to maintain campus budget records. 10. Prepare and process purchase orders. 11. Receive, store, and issue supplies and equipment. 12. Assist with coordination of faculty meetings and campus activities. 13. Assist with campus budget preparation. 14.

Maintain inventory of fixed assets, equipment, and supplies.Other 15. Sort, distribute, or deliver mail and other documents. 16. Maintain confidentiality. 17. Maintain friendly customer service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers. 18. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met. 19. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal) 20. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesMonitor students while in office reception area.Equipment UsedPersonal computer, printer, copier, fax machine, and calculator.Working ConditionsMental demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.
