Title I Instructional Assistant Teacher
The Title I Instructional Assistant Teacher position supports the classroom teacher academically in the classroom. The position will support students who have been identified as historically disadvantaged and are performing below grade-level expectancies. This position reports to the Special Education Coordinator.
Job Description:
- Presents subject matter to children, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including discussions and demonstrations.
- Assists students or adults, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
- Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
- Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.
- Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and on-field excursions.
- Documenting student progress and communicating with parents to keep them informed.
- Assisting in the creation of lesson plans.
- Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.
- Duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Parapro test or a test comparable as defined by MSDE is required.
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience with children is preferred.
- Successful completion of a background check.
