7-12th School Counselor
Goal: Provide a comprehensive guidance program meeting the needs of 7th – 12th grade students promoting academic, personal, social and career development while supporting building administration in operations to further benefit all students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed master's level professional counselor degree OR a limited licensed master's level professional counselor (will work under the supervision of a licensed master's level professional counselor)
- Experience in scheduling using PowerSchool or a similar program
- Experience in personal and crisis counseling.
- Experience with 504 plans, attendance interventions, and alternative education pathways
- Valid teaching certificate
- Successful previous guidance counseling experience and/or teaching experience
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in providing academic guidance and career planning services
- Ability to collaborate with staff to provide student supports
- Demonstrate experience and skill working with students in secondary grade ranges
Performance Responsibilities:
- Leads the end-to-end administration of standardized testing programs—including AP, CollegeBoard and M-STEP assessments—by managing scheduling, test security, and facility readiness.
- Conduct developmental guidance lessons in the classroom and in small groups.
- Facilitate the integration of the guidance curriculum into the educational curriculum.
- Select topics and resources consistent with building identified objectives.
- Plan and organize activities to support students' transition to the Jr High School.
- Assist students with developing educational goals.
- Provide school-to-career guidance activities using resources.
- Follows policies, procedures, and all other ethical practices and requirements while working with students.
- Remain up-to-date with current professional trends.
- Assist with building of the master schedule and entering student schedules into PowerSchool.
- Work in conjunction with students and staff in support of at risk advising and peer mediation.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, students, and staff to facilitate student success.
- Mentor responsibilities with Michigan Virtual students.
- Punctuality, reliability and predictable attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
