Second Shift Custodian
Second shift custodian reports to custodial lead and/or director of maintenance and facilities. Pay type: hourly, non-exempt, classified, non-supervisory. Pay rate: starting at $16.50/hr., with potential for increases based on experience. Benefits: eligible for benefits (see attachment for details). Schedule: full-time, year-round; 8 hours/day; 260 working days/year.

Duties And Responsibilities
Custodial & Maintenance Duties:
- Perform custodial maintenance tasks including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets
- Clean and restock restrooms regularly to ensure cleanliness and hygiene
- Assist the custodial lead in maintaining a clean and orderly school environment to facilitate optimal educational use at all times
- Safely perform all custodial duties as assigned
Teamwork & Communication:
- Represent the West Lafayette community school corporation by maintaining a professional and positive attitude at all times
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and other stakeholders
- Deliver excellent customer service to all individuals using school facilities and services
Professional Development:
- Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Handle all incidents in a manner appropriate to training and established procedures
Job Specifications
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Preferred prior experience in custodial and light maintenance duties
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Knowledge of and the ability to safely operate custodial machinery, chemicals, and tools
- Familiarity with general cleaning procedures and best practices
- Ability to work independently and exhibit positive energy and enthusiasm for the work
- Strong ability to collaborate and work well as a part of a team
- Ability to follow directions and work without close supervision
Working Conditions
Works indoors and outdoors in a school environment. Regularly stands, walks, and sits for extended periods. Requires lifting, tight maneuvering, climbing, and other physical exertion. Works closely with others in a team-oriented environment. Frequently exposed to noisy and potentially distracting environments. Occasionally works in proximity to contaminants or hazardous materials and equipment. Frequently exposed to pollen, dust, chemicals, and fumes.
