Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week. Shift hours 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM with 8‑ or 10‑hour shifts available. On call for evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Compensation

Compensation range: $26.97 - $35.06 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures and assists the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation.
• Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases.
• Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy.
• Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Serves as a patient advocate.
• Works in the inpatient setting, assisting surgeons in providing intraoperative care to surgical ophthalmology patients of all ages.
• Participates in all necessary activities of the perioperative team to ensure safe patient care.
• Maintains a high degree of interpersonal, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist with a license in good standing or meet NYS requirements to be grandfathered into Public Health Law 2824.
• Effective communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Experience assisting in surgical procedures, preferably in ophthalmology.
