SEASONAL REGISTERED NURSE - ICU - Per Diem - Nights

Job Overview

Seasonal Registered Nurse – ICU (Part‑Time, On‑site, $80 USD per hour)

Location: Sierra View Medical Center, California.

Seasonal Per Diem Agreement Requirements

• Individual will work a 8‑ or 13‑week seasonal assignment.
• Individual is required to work three 12‑hour scheduled shifts per week.
• Must have at least 1 year as an RN in ICU.

Shift

6:45 pm – 7:15 am

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

1. Assess, treat, and/or care for patients of all ages, using holistic, patient‑centered assessment.
2. Utilize holistic assessment skills to recognize subtle, covert, or abnormal signs and symptoms, including psychosocial, biophysical, environmental, and teaching needs.
3. Identify nursing diagnoses and interdependent nursing problems and apply appropriate nursing care standards.
4. Ensure the care plan is specific and unique, using Interdependent Nursing Standards and discharge needs of complex patients.
5. Perform nursing care, safe medication administration, troubleshoot equipment, and demonstrate clinical problem‑solving skills.
6. Document nursing care consistently with Nursing and Medical Plans of Care.
7. Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, communicate findings, and make recommendations for future care.
8. Communicate changes in patient status to physicians and the health‑care team.
9. Adhere to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
10. Maintain appropriate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
11. Use drug information appropriately for patients with multi‑system problems.
12. Complete required unit‑specific performance criteria checklist.
13. Demonstrate proper infection prevention skills for central lines and indwelling Foley catheters.
14. Report quality or risk‑management issues through appropriate lines of authority.
15. Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends affecting nursing practice on the unit.
16. Adhere to the Nursing Practice Act and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Intensive Care Unit Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform the role of ICU RN according to the policies and procedures of Sierra View Medical Center and Critical Care Services.
2. Maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
3. Complete basic arrhythmia recognition class and maintain competency.
4. Initiate appropriate measures to support patient survivability during life‑threatening events.
5. Communicate patient needs with other care providers effectively.
6. Know the chain of command for issue resolution.
7. Ensure ICU rooms are set up properly to receive critically ill patients efficiently.
8. Pass annual unit‑specific competency assessments.
9. Arrive on time; be in attendance on site and ready for shift huddle.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current RN licensure in California.
• BLS certification (or obtain within orientation).
• ACLS certification (or obtain within six months of assignment).

Education and Experience

• At least 1 year of ICU RN experience.
