(SEA) Lifeguard I

Calvert County, MD Pool Lifeguard

Responsible for the overall safety of patrons, general maintenance, and cleaning of facility.

Implements appropriate rescue, first aid and emergency procedures.

Cleans pool, bathhouse, and related areas daily.

Collects entry fees.

Enforces all rules and regulations as they relate to pool safety.

Attends weekly training sessions.

Performs any other duties as assigned which relate to the operation of a public swimming pool.

Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of:

• Proper lifeguarding procedures.

Ability to:

• Deal effectively with the public.
• Follow instructions; perform general cleaning.

Required Qualifications:

Training and/or Education: None

Experience: None

Licenses or Certificates: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid & CPR/AED Certificate.

Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or have work permit. Subject to background investigation.

Physical Demands: Work requires medium to heavy physical effort.

Unusual Demands: Flexible schedule to include: early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Compensation Steps: Pay rate: $18.49 per hour. Grade H06, Seasonal position. Department of Parks and Recreation, Various Locations. Position closing date: Open continuously until filled.
