Job TitleAdvise students interested in the Arts & Culture / DEI issue areas, providing information on how to successfully engage with community partners and initiatives.Issue Area Responsibilities (70%): Arts & Culture / DEI- Advising & TablingAdvise students interested in the Arts & Culture / DEI issue areas, providing information on how to successfully engage with community partners and initiativesIn collaboration with CCE staff, develop a regular rhythm for tabling to promote volunteer opportunities in your issue areasAttend volunteer fairs to promote your issue areasIssue Area Trainings and Support for Student Organizations and On-Campus LeadersDetermine the pre-requisites / orientation needs at the respective organizations for volunteers, and ensure students have the needed information to participateAttend volunteer orientations to welcome students to education-based opportunities and inform them about the current education environment in RichmondIn collaboration with CCE staff, determine potential opportunities for developing Arts & Culture / DEI-based trainings, mentoring trainings, and/or resources that provide needed context.Reach out to student organizations and offer support as neededConsider hosting an issue-area dinner with org leaders to network, and share resourcesCommunications & OutreachIn collaboration with the communications team, develop a communications plan (paper flyers, Dflyers, SpiderBytes, routine newsletters, etc.) to promote opportunities for students to engage with the education social issue areaCCE-wide Responsibilities (30%)- Drop-in advising supportOn occasion, support the drop-in advising process for civically engaged students, ensuring advisees receive issue-area specific information, as well as proper follow up and logistical support. This involves serving at least one shift as a peer advisor during CCE drop-in advising (Monday-Thursday, 2 p.m.-4 p.m.).- Programming supportIn collaboration with CCE staff and fellow program associates, support conceptualizing, planning, and executing CCE-wide, educational meetings (1 per semester)Collaborate with others (e.g., program associates, CCE staff) to explore programming that brings fosters community building among engaged students (e.g., end-of-semester self-care meetings, appreciation days), (1 per semester)Serve on the student-fund review committee one semester per yearQualifications- Prior volunteer experience with nonprofit programming- Previous experience facilitating meetings and/or leading group discussions- Previous experience in event planning and proficiency in written communication (mostly email)- Strong written communication skills and efficient use of time required- Attention to detail, task-management, and organization skills required
