SDA Network Engineer IIPosition Summary: We are seeking an SDA Network Engineer II to support mission-critical network operations at Scott Air Force Base, IL. This role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, configuring, and restoring customer circuits across transport and IP network environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with circuit actions, alternate routing, alarm surveillance, fault isolation, and transport/IP network troubleshooting in a DoD or mission-focused NOC environment.Key Responsibilities:Execute network operations involving configuration, monitoring, and analysis of customer circuits across optical and electro-optical multiplexers, TDM, routers, and switches.Perform real-time circuit redesign and alternate routing to restore customer connectivity during outages, degradations, maintenance windows, and scheduled or unscheduled service interruptions.Develop alternate routing strategies and redundancy approaches to support mission continuity during network events.Monitor scheduled outages and communicate impact or status updates to the SDA community.Work directly with customers, engineers, and other NOC teams to maintain maximum network availability and reduce mission impact.Proactively monitor network alarms using platform-specific network management tools.Use incident management systems to document outages, degradations, fault isolation steps, escalations, and resolution activity throughout the incident lifecycle.Maintain an offline configuration management database of SDA sites and circuits that traverse the DISN.Assess network incidents, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions across transport and IP environments.Troubleshoot and support technologies such as routers, switches, crypto devices, Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching, SONET/SDH, and satellite communications.Required Qualifications:Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification prior to start.Ability to work in a 24/7 shift-based operational environment.Working knowledge of Transport and IP network topologies.Experience supporting network operations, circuit troubleshooting, fault isolation, or service restoration in a mission-focused environment.Ability to document technical actions clearly in incident management or ticketing systems.Preferred Qualifications:Tech Control Facility or Cyber Transport experience.Circuit actions experience, including routing, restoral, and outage coordination.Telco NOC, inside plant, or outside plant experience.Experience with alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, or performance management.Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams.Familiarity with DISN, DoD network operations, transport systems, or satellite communications environments.Bachelor's degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience; or Equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience.Core Benefits:Paid Time Off (PTO): TEN (10) Paid days off & FIVE (5) Floating days off.Holidays: 11 Paid Holidays.Payroll: Paid Bi-Monthly.401(k): Partnered with the SECOND LARGEST Retirement plan provider in the U.S.
