About the Role

As a Scraping Engineer at String, you'll be an embedded member of a high-growth AI startup team, working alongside world-class engineers. You'll own the reliability and quality of our web extraction infrastructure, which processes millions of pages daily through hundreds of scripts. This role reports to our Forward Deployed Engineer and is critical to ensuring our data pipeline runs smoothly and accurately.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and monitor our triage queue, resolving broken scrapers and data quality alerts to keep operations running smoothly.
• Build and deploy new web scraping scripts for websites we need to extract data from.
• Validate scraped data for 100% accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
• Create dashboards to visualize and monitor scraped data in real time.
• Collaborate with our AI agents to fill capability gaps, fix issues, and improve existing scripts.

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years of hands-on web scraping experience.
• 1+ years working with Typescript, Node.js, and SQL.
• Proficiency with RabbitMQ (or similar message queues), Redis, gRPC, git, and bash.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with data cleaning and analytical workflows.
• Strong communicator who sends asynchronous updates and flags blockers proactively.
• Experience working within or leading engineering teams and scoping project timelines.
• Comfort with ambiguity, bias toward action, and focus on efficiency in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Quick learner excited about our vision.

Location

Remote, any time zone. You'll need 8+ hours per day availability with overlap during US business hours.
