Job Title: Scientist I
Location: Swiftwater, PA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
Sanofi’s contingent workforce program, FLEXT Direct, is seeking a Scientist I for a 12-month contract contract with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate recombinant baculovirus and perform WVB activities.
- Perform protein expression using the baculovirus/insect cell system in shake flasks.
- Perform cell maintenance, transfection, infection, and harvest of viral stocks from suspension cultures.
- Sample culture flasks and prepare samples for analytical testing.
- Perform standard molecular biology techniques, including DNA purification, PCR, Western blot, FACS, and SDS-PAGE.
- Perform titer assays and aseptic techniques.
- Wash glassware and USP process equipment.
- Design, analyze, and document experiments while maintaining accurate records electronically and in laboratory notebooks.
- Communicate experimental results effectively in group and department meetings.
- Contribute to laboratory organization, reagent tracking, and ordering.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with SOPs, SWIs, and protocols.
- Coordinate data capture and tracking.
- Write and review protocols and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or another relevant discipline.
- 0–2 years of experience with a BS degree in an academic or industry laboratory setting.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with baculovirus protein expression and insect cell cultures is highly desirable.
- Ability to plan and conduct laboratory experiments and evaluate and interpret data.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work changing schedules and hours as needed.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Recombinant baculovirus generation.
- Protein expression in insect cell systems.
- Suspension cell culture.
- Viral stock generation, infection, and harvest.
