Principal Applications Scientist – Mass Spectrometry

I am currently representing an innovative technology firm that is seeking an experienced Principal Applications Scientist to join their growing team.

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Applications and serve as a technical authority for the company's flagship Mass Spectrometry system. You will bridge the gap between technical innovation and customer engagement, leading the development of application-specific solutions, supporting evaluations at major semiconductor OEMs and fabs, and shaping future product roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical engagements, pre-sale product demonstrations, and customer evaluations for mass spectrometry solutions.
• Provide hands‑on expertise in instrument configuration, calibration, validation, and system‑level performance testing.
• Develop tailored hardware and software solution bundles to address complex semiconductor manufacturing applications (such as Etch, CVD, and ALD).
• Analyze customer samples, deliver technical data reports, and present customer‑facing proposals to support business development.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to define next‑generation product specifications and requirements.
• Deliver specialized operational training to clients and key technical partners.

Requirements:

• Education: Master of Science degree with 6+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Technical Background: 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing mass spectrometry‑based solutions or working with analytical instruments (e.g., gas analyzers, plasma diagnostics).
• Semiconductor Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with semiconductor fabrication processes (Etch, CVD, ALD).
• Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record in pre‑sales demonstrations and customer relationship management.
• Technical Tools (Desirable): Experience with control hardware (PLC) and scripting tools such as Python or LabVIEW.
• Mobility: Willingness to undertake up to 30% domestic and international travel.
