Teacher Science High School
Instructs students in the middle and high school education subjects appropriate to grade level and district/state curriculum requirements. This position is for the school year.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Teaches district approved curriculum daily.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.
- Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
- Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.
- Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed.
- Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Participates on school committees as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related.
- Teaching certification in related field required.
- Minimum 1 year successful educational and instructional experience in a public school setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with core subject matter concepts and apply concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Knowledge and experience using varied computer applications and applied technology experience.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Employee is continuously required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, talk, and hear; frequently sits, stoops, kneels and/or crouches, reach with hands and arms in the performance of the job.
- Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $50,164 to $89,853 - dependent on education and experience.
