Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a visible presence on campus to promote safety and deter criminal activity.
* Develop positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
* Investigate incidents occurring on school property and coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary.
* Assist in the development and implementation of school safety and emergency response plans.
* Provide education on topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution.
* Monitor and assess potential security risks and recommend corrective actions. Respond to emergencies, threats, and crisis situations in a timely manner.
* Support school administrators in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
* Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and activities.
* Participate in school events, meetings, and community outreach programs.
Requirements
* Current certification as a sworn law enforcement officer.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of law enforcement experience preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively with youth, educators, and families.
* Knowledge of school safety practices, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution techniques.
* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
* Certified as a School Resource Officer, at least within the first year of taking the postion.
