Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible presence on campus to promote safety and deter criminal activity.
- Develop positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Investigate incidents occurring on school property and coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school safety and emergency response plans.
- Provide education on topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution.
- Monitor and assess potential security risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support school administrators in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and activities.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and community outreach programs.
Requirements
- Current certification as a sworn law enforcement officer.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of law enforcement experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with youth, educators, and families.
- Knowledge of school safety practices, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Certified as a School Resource Officer, at least within the first year of taking the postion.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn law enforcement officer assigned to a school or group of schools to help maintain a safe and secure learning environment. The SRO builds positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members while providing security, crime prevention education, and emergency response support.
