School Psychologist Internship

Job Summary

School psychologist intern works alongside a licensed school psychologist to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Responsibilities include collaborating with educators, administrators, families, and mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments and strengthening connections between home and school.

Responsibilities

  • Work under a licensed school psychologist to support students in academic, social, and emotional areas.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and mental health professionals to build inclusive, secure learning environments.
  • Apply professional ethical, legal, and policy standards in service delivery.
  • Provide direct counseling, crisis interventions, and mentorship to individuals or groups as needed.
  • Assist in planning and implementing prevention, early intervention, and crisis management programs.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program evaluation data; use data to guide decisions and improve services.
  • Support home, school, and community collaboration; promote partnerships and enhance student learning and mental‑health goals.
  • Participate in the development of school policies, climate improvement plans, and classroom interventions.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an approved school psychology training program and working toward a Master’s, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and ethical guidelines related to school psychology services.
  • Skill in applying evidence‑based practices for assessment, intervention, and program evaluation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse families, students, and school staff; sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences.
  • Proficiency in data management, report writing, and the use of technology for assessments and program analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to provide counseling and crisis support.
  • Physical ability to perform program duties, including occasional lifting up to 80 pounds and routine use of office equipment.
