Substitute School Nurse
The Substitute School Nurse provides appropriate healthcare services for students in the school clinic under the general supervision of the principal in the absence of the school nurse.
Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science or Associates of Science in Nursing
Certification/Licensure
- Required – Valid Georgia Registered Nursing license
Experience
- Two (2) years of public health, healthcare facility, or school nursing experience preferred
Physical Activity: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
Knowledge
- Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with all stakeholders
- Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed
- Recordkeeping and organizational skills
- Fundamental nursing concepts, practices, and procedures
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently 2. Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in working with School Board members, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public 3. Exhibits an neat and professional in appearance in adherence to industry standards 4. Provides nursing care for sudden illness or injury by operating the school clinic 5. Organizes mass screenings and other appraisal activities to assess the health status of students 6. Promotes communicable disease control through exclusion/readmission authorization of students having a contagious disease or condition 7. Assists students to achieve optimal levels of wellness through group health education 8. Works to help targeted students understand and manage their chronic health problems 9. Collaborates the inter-disciplinary colleagues to promote student wellness 10. Assumes responsibility for continuing education, professional development, and contributes to the professional growth of others 11. Secures and maintains First Aid and instructor CPR certification 12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.
Workdays: Commensurate with need
Compensation Range: $18.00/hour FY25/EC_RW08
