School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Derby, KS

Make a meaningful difference in a student's school experience as a full-time LPN working one-on-one with a high school senior. This rewarding contract position focuses on providing dedicated care and support throughout the school day, ensuring the student's health and comfort are prioritized. Work closely with teachers and school staff during standard school hours (7:40 am to 3:10 pm).
Your clinical background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), especially within school or pediatric care, will empower you to manage complex health needs as you assist a student with significant medical challenges, including tracheostomy and gastrostomy care. This role allows you to contribute your skills where they matter most while building a supportive relationship with your student.
Qualifications & Experience:

• Active LPN or LVN license required
• Previous experience with pediatric or school nursing preferred
• Proficient with trach and GI tube management
• Comfortable assisting students in wheelchairs and managing mobility needs
• Confident in responding to seizures, chronic medical conditions, and emergencies
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with educators, health staff, and families
• Compassion, patience, and adaptability in specialized care settings

• Deliver attentive, specialized care for a 12th-grade student throughout the school day
• Monitor and manage trach and GI tube, including feeding and suctioning needs
• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate health records
• Support safe mobility, transfers, and positioning as needed
• Liaise with school staff, families, and healthcare providers as part of a collaborative team
• Foster an inclusive and safe classroom environment
• Promptly address medical needs and document all care provided
