We are seeking a School-Based Outpatient Counselor to provide individual mental health counseling services to students within a school setting during school hours. The counselor will deliver one-on-one clinical interventions to support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. This role works closely with school staff and families, as appropriate, to support student success in the classroom and overall functioning.
This position is open to Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) , as well as Licensed Associate Professional Counselors (LAPC) . Clinical supervision toward LPC licensure will be provided for eligible candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual outpatient counseling sessions to students during school hours
- Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Implement evidence-based interventions addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation, and behavioral challenges
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with school staff (teachers, counselors, administrators) to support student progress
- Participate in student support meetings (MTSS, IEP, 504) as clinically appropriate
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments when necessary
- Coordinate care with outside providers and community resources
- Support referral and discharge planning as needed
- Maintain compliance with ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA, FERPA, and applicable state regulations)
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related clinical field
- Active Pennsylvania licensure as LPC or LCSW , or eligibility for LPC licensure
- LAPC candidates encouraged to apply (clinical supervision provided toward LPC licensure)
- Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
- Strong knowledge of child/adolescent development and evidence-based clinical practices
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a school-based setting while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Crisis intervention experience preferred
