Company Description The Seton Foundation for Learning oversees three schools: the Joan Ann Kennedy Memorial Preschool, the Mother Franciska Elementary School, and the Bishop Patrick V. Ahern High School. The elementary and high schools are private institutions affiliated with the Archdiocese of New York, while the preschool operates as a New York State Department of Education–approved 4410 program. All schools welcome students of all faiths and are committed to providing inclusive, high-quality educational experiences for student with special needs. The schools focus on nurturing each learner’s academic, social, and emotional growth in a supportive school setting.

Role Description The School Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Staten Island, NY, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and educational program as assigned. This role includes supervising faculty and staff, guiding curriculum implementation, and ensuring that instructional practices meet state and organizational standards. The School Director collaborates with families, caregivers, and community partners, manages enrollment processes, and supports individualized student needs. Responsibilities also include budgeting and resource allocation, compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, staff development and evaluation, and fostering an inclusive, safe, and respectful school culture. The School Director reports to foundation leadership and works closely with administrative teams to advance the mission and strategic goals of the Seton Foundation for Learning.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Special Education with demonstrated experience leading school programs.
  • Expertise in Curriculum Development, including designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional plans aligned with standards and student needs.
  • Experience in Training and Coaching, supporting professional growth for teachers and staff through feedback, mentoring, and ongoing development.
  • Master’s degree in special education and/or educational leadership.
  • SBL/SAS New York State certification or eligibility.
  • Proven ability to manage school operations, including budgeting, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community members.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and supporting learners of varied backgrounds, abilities, and faith traditions.
