Job Description
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The 61 Precinct is responsible for the safety and security of the residents of Brooklyn South. We are committed to serving the community in partnership to protect the people, reduce fear, preserve peace, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation. The duties of the School Crossing Guard, II position include, but are not limited to: 1. Coordinate daily activities and record keeping of school crossing guards assigned to command. 2. Visit and inspect all school crossing guards on assigned post daily. 3. Sign memorandum pad of school crossing guard and enter time of visit and inspection (report any action taken, including reports of violations by motorists, report any absence from assignment and reason. 4. Maintain a memorandum pad 5. Communicate with precinct each workday.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
