The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient scheduling leader who thinks like a builder and understands the “why” behind the schedule. They should be able to take ownership of a project with limited direction, make informed scheduling decisions, and confidently communicate and defend their schedule logic.
For example, if given a two-story building on a greenfield site, they should be able to walk through how the project would actually be built, from site and foundation activities through structural erection and subsequent phases, understand the sequencing and trade dependencies, and translate that into a logical, executable schedule.
This person should be able to build, analyze, challenge, and drive a construction schedule independently, not simply operate Primavera, ASTA, or update dates and activities within an existing schedule.
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5–7 years of scheduling experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Previous experience managing or leading a team.
• Strong construction knowledge with the ability to develop proper sequencing and schedule logic.
• Experience developing schedules from the ground up, including resource loading, analysis, and reporting.
• Strong understanding of CPM, EVM, TIA, and WBS methodologies.
• Proficiency with Primavera and ASTA scheduling software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions based on schedule analysis and changing project priorities.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Federal project scheduling experience.
• Experience with schedule impact and delay analysis.
• Advanced experience with resource loading, histograms, and activity coding.
