Satellite Communications TechnicianWe are looking for a SATCOM Technician to support the maintenance and troubleshooting of satellite communication systems at our teleport facility. This role requires strong technical expertise and problem-solving capability to ensure reliable operations across RF, baseband, and IP-based systems.The SATCOM Technician collaborates with NOC technicians, engineering, vendors, and cross-functional teams to maintain system performance, support critical operations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring junior team members.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and troubleshoot RF, baseband, and SATCOM systems and equipmentEnsure uninterrupted satellite signal transmission and receptionResolve issues involving satellite modems, up and down converters, and IP-based transport systemsProvide escalation support for complex or unresolved SATCOM issuesCollaborate with Tier I technicians and engineering teams to resolve recurring or critical issuesMaintain accurate records of configurations, incidents, and resolutionsPrepare maintenance logs, technical reports, and standard operating proceduresEnsure documentation complies with internal standards and audit requirementsTrain and mentor junior technicians on troubleshooting techniques and proceduresDevelop training materials and lead sessions to strengthen team capabilitiesConduct routine audits and quality checks on SATCOM infrastructureAssist engineering teams with planned upgrades and maintenance activitiesSupport the development and review of standard operating procedures and maintenance checklistsParticipate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical outages with rapid fault isolation and recoveryProvide clear and professional updates during incident managementContribute to internal reviews and continuous service improvement initiativesQualifications3 to 5 years of experience in satellite communications, RF, or IT network supportStrong knowledge of RF systems, satellite modems, IP networking, and system integrationUnderstanding of Linux and Windows-based systemsStrong troubleshooting, documentation, and time management skillsExperience using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power metersAdditional RequirementsExperience with routers, switches, firewalls, and SNMP-based monitoring tools is considered an assetExperience with teleport or broadcast operations is preferredAbility to support rotating 24 by 7 on-call schedules, including weekends and holidaysAbility to respond to incidents outside of standard working hoursOccasional travel to support remote locationsAbility to lift equipment, perform installation tasks, and work at height including laddersComfort working in mixed environments including office space, equipment shelters, rooftops, and outdoor conditionsTolerance for exposure to noise, vibration, and weather conditions during inspections and maintenanceCompensation: 65,000 to 95,000Position Type: Full-timeWe have 1 available position(s).AI Usage Disclosure: At Calian, we do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to screen or evaluate candidates.
