We’re looking for a senior-level SAP Production Planning (PP) professional who can operate as both a strategic business partner and a hands‑on functional lead. This role is ideal for someone who understands manufacturing operations deeply and knows how to translate business needs into practical, well‑designed SAP solutions.
You will serve as the enterprise lead for SAP PP, partnering closely with operations, supply chain, and IT teams across multiple manufacturing sites. This position sits within a centralized SAP Center of Excellence and plays a key role in ensuring that SAP S/4HANA effectively supports planning, scheduling, and shop floor execution.
This is not a purely support role. You’ll own design decisions, lead configuration efforts, and help shape how production planning processes scale as the business grows.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Act as the enterprise process owner and design authority for SAP Production Planning (PP)
- Serve as the primary SAP functional partner to manufacturing planning and operations teams
- Lead end‑to‑end requirements gathering, solution design, and hands‑on configuration in SAP PP
- Configure and optimize:
- Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Routings and work centers
- Production versions and order execution
- MRP and planning strategies (make‑to‑stock and make‑to‑order)
- Demand management (PIRs and forecast consumption)
- Support capacity planning, shop floor control, production confirmations, backflushing, and variance analysis
- Configure and support batch‑managed materials and traceability processes
- Ensure strong integration between SAP PP and adjacent modules, particularly Materials Management (MM) and Sales & Distribution (SD)
- Partner with technical teams on integrations between SAP and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Facilitate workshops, develop functional specifications, and support testing cycles (unit, integration, and UAT)
- Continuously evaluate and improve planning and production processes within SAP
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of progressive SAP PP experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong hands‑on configuration experience delivering enhancements and new functionality
- Deep understanding of:
- MRP and demand management
- Capacity planning and shop floor control
- Batch‑managed materials
- Integration points between PP, MM (Inventory Management), and SD
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA (Cloud, Private Edition preferred)
- Exposure to MES or shop floor system integrations
- Solid grasp of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and material flow
- Ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders without direct authority
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
Additional Experience That Stands Out
- Multi‑site manufacturing support experience
- Familiarity with SAP MM, SD, or FICO integrations
- Experience with SAP Fiori applications and manufacturing analytics
- Experience mentoring junior team members or leading functional workstreams
- Interest in growing into broader enterprise systems leadership
