Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Sanitation Employee to join our food manufacturing team. The Sanitation Employee is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, utensils, floors, and other areas of the facility to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.

This position requires the ability to work with cleaning chemicals, hot water, and various types of production equipment while consistently following company safety, sanitation, and food safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, utensils, and work areas.

• Scrub production equipment and food-contact surfaces to remove food residues and buildup.

• Scrub and clean production pans, trays, containers, and other equipment.

• Use hot water and approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals safely and according to established procedures.

• Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Handle and work around sharp equipment and tools while following appropriate safety procedures.

• Handle, move, and clean heavy equipment and materials as required.

• Inspect equipment during and after cleaning to ensure it has been properly cleaned and is free of visible soil, food residue, and other contaminants.

• Squeegee and remove excess water from floors and designated areas.

• Maintain clean and orderly sanitation areas and equipment.

• Follow all company food safety, sanitation, GMP, and workplace safety procedures.

• Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or sanitation issues to management.

• Complete required sanitation documentation and records accurately.

• Work effectively as part of a sanitation team and follow instructions from supervisors.

• Perform additional sanitation, cleaning, or other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.

• Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb as necessary.

• Repeatedly scrub and clean equipment and surfaces.

• Work with hot water and cleaning chemicals while wearing required PPE.

• Lift, push, pull, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials as required.

• Safely work around sharp equipment and machinery.

• Work in wet and cold environments typical of a food manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

• Previous food manufacturing or sanitation experience is preferred but not required.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to work the scheduled evening/overnight shift and remain past the scheduled end time when necessary.

• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Schedule & Availability

The normal schedule is 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM or later, depending on production and sanitation requirements. Employees may be required to remain beyond the scheduled end time to complete sanitation activities and ensure production areas are properly cleaned and ready for the next production day. One Sunday per month may be required.

Pay: $16.50 per hour
