Surface AbraderAbrades surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to impact specified finish by performing the following duties.Hourly Pay Rate: $18.50-$19.00/hr. entry levelEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopperLoads parts into cabinetsTurns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts.Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wearCheck appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears "powdery", replenish cabinet with new blast mediaMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Minimum experience required 0-3 yearsHigh School diploma preferred not requiredAbility to understand basic EnglishBe able to follow basic instruction and work directionRequires basic math skillsRequires basic computer skillsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
