SALES LEADER – Part‑Time
The Sales Leader is responsible for providing exemplary selling and customer service designed to improve the productivity and profitability of the store. The role focuses on sales, service, and relationship‑building at all times while serving as a role model of best practice retail execution. In addition to customer interactions, the Sales Leader shares product knowledge, manages daily tasks assigned by the Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager, and is responsible for opening and/or closing the store as needed. Inventory management, product stocking, housekeeping, and stockroom duties are also part of the position, and the Sales Leader works closely with the corporate store team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Creating and maintaining a warm, inviting, easy‑to‑navigate shopping environment.
- Building and sharing expertise on products, promotions, services, and brand rewards programs tailored to shopper needs.
- Supporting store management and the team.
- Helping customers find the perfect card and gift solutions.
- Sharing and showcasing stories and communities of caring to reinforce the cycle of kindness.
- Managing store operations such as product replenishment, merchandising, ringing sales, processing shipments, inventory, online orders, and curbside deliveries.
- Delivering an exceptional consumer shopping experience that inspires, enables, and encourages return visits.
- Working as a team to meet sales goals by ensuring each customer leaves with everything they need.
- Upholding all company policies and practices.
- Performing additional duties or special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior retail experience, sales, or customer service.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to open and close the store at least three (3) times per week and work two (2) weekend shifts per month.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including events, holidays, evenings, and weekends.
- Proof of eligibility to work legally in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in specialty retail, sales, or customer service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Strong customer‑focused engagement and consultative selling skills.
- Effective communication with customers and employees; strong sense of urgency, flexibility, and willingness to adapt to change.
- Ability to receive feedback and take appropriate action; proficiency with computer and other technology.
- Desire and ability to learn the business.
- Accountable for managing cash and product assets and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting in training new store employees and working closely with management on policies, operational changes, and training initiatives.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Continuous standing/walking, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, fine finger movement, and tactile assistance with products/customers.
- Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, squatting, lifting up to 40 pounds, and reaching overhead.
- Occasional balance on uneven surfaces and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Rare or infrequent driving, lifting up to 75 pounds, or remaining seated during job performance.
- Continuous communication with customers, co‑workers, or vendors in person or over the phone.
- Exposure to dust, cleaning agents, truck exhaust, low lighting, noise, smells of products, outdoor work, and work at heights in stockroom or product floor.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This is a regular, part‑time, hourly position that is deemed “non‑exempt” by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and will typically involve 10–28 hours per week, not to exceed an average of 28 hours per week.
PAY
$13.00/hr
