Dillard's is seeking a passionate, visionary Sales Director to lead our Men's Apparel division. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who thrives in a dynamic retail environment, inspires exceptional customer service, and is committed to growing the Men's Sportswear and Tailored Clothing business through innovative training, business leadership, and operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the Men's Sportswear and Tailored Clothing departments with vision, energy, and a passion for men's fashion.
  • Drive exceptional customer service standards while fostering a culture that delivers an elevated shopping experience.
  • Embrace a growth mindset learn quickly, encourage innovation, and inspire continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Support the Education Director in developing, writing, and executing training content from the ground up; facilitate engaging in-person and virtual training programs.
  • Identify training opportunities and partner with the Men's Education Director to improve store execution and business performance.
  • Invest in and mentor Assistant Store Managers, Selling Business Managers, Stylists, and Selling Specialists by developing leadership skills and strengthening business acumen.
  • Drive sales results, build meaningful relationships, and influence positive behavioral change while supporting stores remotely and through field visits.
  • Leverage all available tools (Learner Mobile, CONNECT, Google Sites, DASH, etc.) to maximize communication, education, and performance.
  • Stay current on men's sportswear, tailored clothing, and retail industry trends, translating insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Partner with Buyers, Divisional Merchandise Managers (DMM), and General Merchandise Managers (GMM) to support merchandising initiatives and communicate store opportunities and successes.
  • Develop and execute in-store events that drive customer engagement, brand awareness, and sales growth within the Men's division.
  • Collaborate with fellow Sales Directors to share best practices and support company-wide initiatives.
  • Represent the Men's Apparel division through strategic leadership, advocating for the business while influencing department direction and priorities.
  • Effectively direct Assistant Store Managers, Selling Business Managers, Stylists, and other stakeholders to the appropriate business partners and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, organizational skills, time management, and the flexibility to travel and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Lead by example by setting the standard for customer service, leadership, accountability, and business performance.
  • Grow the Men's Apparel business to $1.5 billion in annual sales.
  • Consistently achieve inventory turn rate goals.
  • Maintain a gross margin above .45+.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Success coaching and developing retail leaders, including Assistant Store Managers, Selling Business Managers, and Store Managers.
  • Experience translating corporate education strategies into successful field execution.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to facilitate both in-person and virtual training programs.
  • Strong vision for the Men's Apparel business with a focus on service, sales performance, and team culture.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and execute initiatives both proactively and in real time.
  • Flexible and willing to travel extensively; thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing retail environment.
  • Comfortable engaging with and influencing senior leadership and cross-functional business partners.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on controllable factors and continuous business improvement.
  • Passion for developing talent and fostering a culture of coaching, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Current knowledge of men's fashion trends, sportswear, tailored clothing, and retail best practices.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo while driving positive organizational change.
  • Ability to work extended hours as business needs require.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Retail Management, Education, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Organizational Development, Leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive retail leadership experience with a strong background in Men's Apparel, including Sportswear and/or Tailored Clothing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of store management experience with demonstrated success leading teams and achieving business objectives.
  • Ability to travel approximately 70% of the time.
