Essential Responsibilities
- Use your knowledge of CarMax inventory to assist customers in finding a vehicle that meets their needs.
- Guide customers every step of the way, from sale or appraisal to test drives and arranging financing applications.
- Complete all relevant records and documentation to ensure smooth transactions for our customers.
CarMax pays new Sales Consultants a competitive wage while training and through the first 640 hours of selling, after which commissions become the primary base of pay.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Sales and customer service experience, in an area such as retail, is preferred.
- Good listening skills and a strong customer focus.
- High level of self‑motivation.
Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage: $16.01 - $20.00 per hour.
- Eligible for commission.
- Paid sick time up to 48 hours per year, accrued on a per pay‑period basis.
- Vacation time ranging from 80 to 200 hours per year after a 90‑day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
- Paid for 6 scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday, with holiday premium pay if work is required on a holiday.
- Full‑time salaried associates receive paid time away with no specified limit for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc., subject to manager approval.
