Job Summary
Sales Consultant – La‑Z‑Boy Furniture Galleries. Location: Chesapeake, VA. Compensation: Base Salary + Unlimited Commission.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
- Promote the Design program and assist Designers to meet sales targets.
- Execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and provide a favorable experience to all customers.
- Develop and utilize sales skills, including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, objection handling, closing, and follow‑up.
- Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
- Maintain strong knowledge of product features and benefits, and prepare for professional home consultations.
- Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines.
- Support design‑related functions in the store.
- Provide high‑level customer service using product knowledge and the company selling process.
- Use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
- Make business decisions that promote customer satisfaction and a team environment.
- Answer phone calls and emails; resolve customer issues and complaints with appropriate solutions.
- Assist in training, coaching, and developing new peers on product knowledge and sales skills.
- Promote and champion a culture of sales and service.
- Assist with visual appearance maintenance of store (display, tagging, catalogs, design‑center fabrics).
- Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, keep orderly customer records, and research payment and delivery details.
- Maintain accurate daily On‑Point system logs.
- Schedule deliveries and maintain store cleanliness.
- Perform opening and closing duties for the store.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required); Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (preferred).
- Experience in luxury sales or retail; luxury experience is a major plus.
- Able to close sales strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong persuasion, negotiation, time‑management, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Team‑player who can work independently and with others.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Polished, persuasive, endlessly ambitious; passion for modern aesthetics, premium materials, and detail‑oriented service.
Compensation
- Training Pay: $15 per hour (2–6 weeks, no commission).
- Post‑Training Base Pay: $11 per hour (varies by location).
- Unlimited commission: 2%–6% on sales, depending on sales type.
- Quarterly bonus opportunity: up to $3,500 based on meeting defined individual sales goals.
- Salary adjustments will be made if base plus commission falls below the local minimum wage.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
