About Owner

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants.

We're building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business.

It powers everything from the restaurant's website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.

Product philosophy

Most small business software makes owners do the work to get what they want: sales growth and profit growth. Owner does the work for them agentically.

Our system drives demand, converts it, and helps operators run their business day to day. As it improves, the business improves with it.

Using Owner should feel like having a team of great operators, engineers, and marketers working for you.

Our vision

We're starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it's not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.

Once we nail the solution for restaurants - we'll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction

Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.

More importantly, we’ve helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.

Our team

Our team is now in the low hundreds. We've got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We'll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.

Where we work

Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!

Why We're Looking for You

Our sales team is growing quickly, and commissions have to land accurately and on time every cycle. We need someone who can step in and own that process in Spiff from day one, without a long ramp or a lot of hand-holding.

This is a hands-on operator role. We're not looking for plan design or comp strategy work. We need someone who has run commissions end-to-end and is comfortable getting into the system, working through the data, fixing what's broken, and closing out each cycle with confidence. If you've personally been the one reps come to when their payout looks off, and you know how to trace it back and fix it, we'd love to talk.

The Impact You Will Have

Own recurring commission cycles end-to-end in Spiff, from data validation through final payout

Administer and maintain existing comp plans and commission logic, including quotas, attainment, rates, accelerators, bonuses, splits, clawbacks, and other plan mechanics

Validate CRM and source data feeding commissions, and reconcile discrepancies before they reach a rep's paycheck

Troubleshoot incorrect calculations and run QA before every cycle is finalized

Manage manual adjustments, exceptions, and true-ups

Produce final commission outputs and reporting for Sales and Finance

Field rep and manager questions, and investigate disputes quickly and fairly

Keep clear documentation and a clean audit trail

Spot where the process is manual or fragile, and make it more reliable over time

Who You'll Work With

You'll partner closely with our BizOps team, who own GTM operations, and work regularly with Sales leaders, reps, and Finance. You'll be the go-to person for anything commissions-related, so you'll build trust with both the people getting paid and the people closing the books.

What We're Looking For

Hands-on experience personally running a monthly or quarterly sales commissions process end-to-end

Strong understanding of sales comp mechanics and how plan rules translate into actual payouts

Excellent Excel and Google Sheets skills

Ability to reconcile data across systems and troubleshoot issues on your own

Very high attention to detail; you catch the error before anyone else does

Comfortable owning a business-critical recurring process with minimal oversight

Strongly preferred

Direct, hands-on Spiff experience

Background at a SaaS or high-growth tech company

Experience supporting multiple sales roles and comp plans at once

Nice to have

SQL or data analysis skills

Experience improving or implementing commission processes

Familiarity with commission accruals and the finance close process

Remote, flexible hours with reliable coverage around commission close

Open to independent consultants, folks currently between roles, or full-time comp professionals open to contract work
