Project Scope
The Safety Manager will support a roofing construction project at a Meta Data Center in Chester, VA. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment while overseeing daily safety operations for roofing crews working in an active construction setting.
The selected candidate will provide field-level safety leadership for a crew of approximately 20-30 workers. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections, monitoring compliance with OSHA standards, identifying and mitigating hazards, leading safety meetings, and ensuring all personnel follow established site-specific safety procedures.
This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work directly with project leadership and subcontractors, and a proactive approach to incident prevention and safety performance management throughout the duration of the project.
Qualifications
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- OSHA 510 Certification
- Experience supporting construction or roofing projects
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices
- Ability to oversee field safety activities and workforce compliance
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work 45-50 hours per week
- Availability for occasional Saturday work based on project needs
- Ability to perform field-based safety inspections in active construction environments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Authorized to work as a 1099 independent contractor
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily safety operations for roofing activities on-site
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements
- Lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, and weekly safety meetings
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Monitor subcontractor and crew adherence to safety procedures
- Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation
- Partner with project management to address hazards and implement corrective actions
- Promote a culture of continuous safety improvement throughout the project
