Role Overview:
The Assistant Manager, Safety leads a team of safety professionals to innovate, design, and improve safety systems, processes, and equipment.
They ensure compliance with safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and analyze safety data to promote safety excellence aligned with operational goals and business plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safety themes and complex improvement projects within the plant.
- Manage daily safety operations and mentor team members, fostering technical and professional growth.
- Apply safety expertise to proactively reduce hazards through PDCA cycles.
- Interpret and implement safety policies, participating in continuous improvement activities.
- Perform complex safety activities, including risk assessments and ergonomic studies, with thorough documentation.
- Present safety results through data analysis and trend reporting.
- Develop technical expertise and professional skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field; 8+ years safety or manufacturing experience.
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., Safety Professional, Occupational Hygiene).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, injury prevention, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and planning tools.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and solve complex safety challenges.
Work Conditions:
- Open office and manufacturing environments.
- Potential overtime, holiday, and weekend work with some travel.
- Ability to work varying/rotating shifts if necessary.
