Roche Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy (RWCDS) drives data excellence and analytics to power decision-making and evidence-generation within Roche Product Development. RWCDS embeds FAIR principles, advances data governance, and enables data productization to ensure data is findable, usable, and a driver of scientific rigor, regulatory readiness, and AI-powered transformation. This role is based in the RWCDS team and collaborates with internal functions and external partners to shape a data ecosystem that supports personalized healthcare and efficient drug development.

Responsibilities

  • The RWD Scientist plays a key role in generating insights from real-world data to inform clinical development, regulatory strategy, and healthcare decision-making.
  • Design and execute observational studies, contribute to data strategy, and collaborate across teams within Development and the broader Pharma organization.
  • Enable evidence generation across therapeutic areas and support the responsible and impactful use of real-world data at scale.
  • Support use of real-world data by designing studies to address clinical, operational, regulatory, or payer questions.
  • Assist in identifying relevant real-world data sources and performing feasibility assessments under guidance from senior data scientists.
  • Apply expertise in observational study methodology to appropriately interpret results of studies.
  • Build expertise in novel data types, statistical methods, and analytical methodology, which may include advanced analytics, special trial designs and types, and data handling methods.
  • Work within established guidelines and data science processes to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement in RWD methodology and delivery.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to broaden knowledge, capabilities and skill set.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience working with healthcare or real-world data in applied research settings; or an advanced degree with 0–2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python) for data analysis.
  • Capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles.
  • Excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with agility beyond the technical domain.
  • Respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in a global workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in presenting and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in agile project teams or regulated environments.
  • Exposure to pharmacoepidemiology or HEOR.
  • Experience in cardiovascular, renal, or metabolic disease therapeutic areas is a plus.
  • Authorship of publications is a plus.

Location and Compensation

  • This position is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • Relocation assistance is not available.
  • The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, Massachusetts is $115,200.00 - $214,000.00 USD annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
  • A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
