RTC Monitor (Instructional Assistant)

RTC MonitorThe RTC Monitor assists professional staff by performing a variety of tasks related to student achievement in the classrooms or in a designated area outside the regular instructional settings. Some duties may also include the playground setting (duty) where there may be exposure to dirt, dust, and extreme seasonal temperatures.Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredProvide documentation showing a passing score on the Paraprofessional AssessmentSixty (60) college credit hours and/or Associate Arts Degree or higher is desiredValid Fingerprint Clearance CardKnowledge of the English language including reading, writing and oral communicationStrong communication and interpersonal skills when working/dealing with students and staffKnowledge of arithmetic and basic mathematic proceduresExperience working with children in an educational setting preferredMust be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical healthBilingual is desiredAlternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board or the Superintendent may deem appropriateEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist professional staff members in classrooms or other instructional areasTake attendance in RTC RoomMonitor groups of students engaged in study activitiesObserve and assist individual students experiencing difficultiesSupervise students in non-instructional activities as assigned by the principal.Maintain confidentiality of all pupil information in accordance with district policies.Maintain discipline records as neededParticipate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices, attend on-going training classes as directed, and read professional publications for continued professional developmentMaintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel and student and family records and/or informationSupport and follow the rules, regulations and policies set by the School Board, the assigned school and the DistrictPerform all other duties as assigned by the Governing School Board, the Principal or his/her designeeLength of Employment:Nine (9) monthsSchool calendar will determine the days worked during the school yearReports to: Building PrincipalEvaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Governing Board Policy GDO
