Route Coordinator12-Month Position, 8-hours a dayPay Grade: IGeneral Summary:The Route Coordinator reports to the Transportation Director and works in partnership with others in the Transportation Department and school district to support a sound transportation program while following federal, state, and local guidelines.Work Tasks/Responsibilities:Reports to Transportation DirectorAssist Principals/Bus Coordinators by recommending school bus drivers/subsAudit routes: times, lot checks, stops and safety issuesEnsure all bus routes at assigned locations, meet guidelinesEnsure the location/safety of stopsSubstitute on buses as neededCoordinate additional program routesCollect bus/lot data from each assigned location to ensure driver time/mileageRe-route any schools/buses at assigned locations to avoid overlapping travel or routingProvide support, feedback and regular communication to bus drivers in the process of updating and reporting data on the TD29 updatesInvestigate accidents; prepare paperwork; obtain pictures; assist at sceneWork with parents and administrators with resolving conflicts regarding bus routing issuesAssist in coordinating the local bus rodeoWork with TIMS regarding route changes and updating information for the central officeReport and GEO Code questions/concerns to the TIMS Route SupervisorsEnter TIMS data for assigned areaResponsible for preparing and submitting annual Pupil Transportation ReportOrganize Buster the Bus safety programs for elementary schools and pre-schoolsAssist Route Manager/Route Supervisors as neededComplete certifications in Edulog Launce Pad for TIMSAdditional Duties:Assist as needed in the Transportation OfficeAll other duties as assigned by the DirectorKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:High School Diploma requiredMust hold a CDL with school bus passenger endorsementExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail OrientedSkill in the use of computers and standard office equipmentWorking knowledge of school guidelines and BOE policiesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents and the publicWorking Conditions:This work requires regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of forceMust be able to step up and down repeatedly and get in and out of vehicles.Work regularly requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting and occasionally requires sitting.Work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to vibrationExposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (nonweather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather).Note: The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
