Assembly Technician, Body TeamThe Manufacturing team is where NEO goes from CAD files to physical reality. Every robot that ships to a customer's home passes through our hands first, and the precision of our work directly determines whether NEO performs safely and reliably in the real world. This team is critical to 1X's mission - without us, there is no robot, no shipment, and no abundance to create.Your CharterTo create an abundant supply of physical labor through safe, intelligent humanoids, every single NEO must be built to a standard that earns its place in someone's home.
As an Assembly Technician, you are responsible for translating engineering intent into a physical robot - building precision mechanical subassemblies that meet exacting tolerances so NEO can move, learn, and operate safely alongside real people. Your craftsmanship is the foundation that everything else - AI, software, customer trust - is built on.Key OutcomesConsistently meet daily and weekly production output targets without compromising on quality or safety standardsDeliver subassemblies that pass first-time inspection, minimizing rework and downstream defectsMaintain dimensional accuracy and proper torque specifications across every assembly you completeIdentify and escalate process issues, tooling problems, or recurring defects so the line gets better over timeContribute to a clean, organized, and safe work area that meets ESD and manufacturing standards every shiftKey CompetenciesCraftsmanship mindset - you take pride in building things correctly and care how the work turns out, not just that it's doneStrong manual dexterity and comfort with detailed, repetitive precision work on small partsReads engineering drawings fluently and works from written instructions without needing constant directionReliable and accountable - shows up on time, finishes what they start, and supports the team to hit shared goalsQuality-first instinct - would rather flag a defect than let it passMinimum Requirements2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturingAbility to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentationProficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments (calipers, torque wrenches, gauges)Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform sustained hands-on, physical work throughout a shiftReliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environmentPreferred SkillsExperience assembling robotics, aerospace, medical device, or other precision mechanical productsFamiliarity with ESD procedures and controlled manufacturing environmentsExperience with high-mix, low-volume or early-stage production environments where processes are still being refinedExposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practicesCompensation Range$28.00/hr – $36.00/hr + EquityBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageGenerous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave401(k) plan with company match (100% on the first 3% of contributions, 50% on the next 2%)Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) optionsCommuter benefits (transit and parking)Short-term and long-term disability, and life insuranceEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health, financial, and personal supportOnsite snacks and catered lunches1X is an Equal Opportunity EmployerAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, medical condition, genetic information, disability, military or veteran status, justice system impact, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.
