Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.Traveler must have ACLS ability to read cardiac strips.

Description:This position involves working in a telemetry unit.The patient population includes individuals awaiting transplant, recent transplant patients, and those with a history of transplant.Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, altered mental status, and DKA.The RN to patient ratio is 1:5 during days and nights.CNA support is available with 2 CNAs during day shifts and 1 CNA during nights.The facility has a charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments.Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws only.IV and VAT teams are available during the day with minimal coverage at night for line placement.A resource nurse is present for each rotation along with administrative support staff.Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 specifically assigned to the unit.A hospitalist is available for overnight on-call support.The electronic medical record system used is Meditech Expanse.IV pumps used include Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed through Pyxis.Travelers may float to other units within their scope of practice.Scheduling includes every other weekend availability.A mandatory schedule consists of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week.Time off requests for up to 7 days can be approved if the contract is extended.Only one weekend of time off can be requested per 13-week contract.Travelers are required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.Scrub color is pewter, and t-shirts must be gray, white, or black with a designated monogram.Jackets must be gray or black, and badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times.
